Keeping content fresh and up-to-date is perhaps one of the most crucial factors required by any user, in order to generate effective visuals that will have an even higher impact upon viewer behaviour. So, what do you currently have on your display that relates to the present season? Are you keeping your content new, fresh and vibrant? To get that return of investment that you are looking for, content is key!

Most digital signage users forget to consider the implications of not refreshing digital signage content – forgetting the amount of viewers that would become so familiar with the display that they begin to unintentionally turn a blind eye. With digital signage becoming even more popular amongst most modern businesses, for enhancing employee communications, bettering guest experiences or even advertising company products and services to potential customers, viewers are likely to become less intrigued by signage that does not even attempt to offer that special something which, in essence, acts as the ‘attention grabber’.

When purchasing digital signage, most buyers immediately focus their entire attention on technology, which is definitely important when considering the most appropriate output to be used, and for allocating the most effective media player to allow for the distribution of seamless information. Whilst acknowledging the importance of the technology, businesses often disregard their need for effective creative content able to accomplish their main reason in purchasing digital signage altogether. Whilst technology is the instrument for delivery, content is the influencer – and without the influencer, the instrument remains meaningless.

  • Take into consideration the time of year: Make your signage sticks out from the rest and incorporate seasonal or holiday based graphics into your content. This does not have to necessarily relate too much to your data or information on show, but it will definitely gain the attention that you seek!
  • Base themes on current events: See how many digital signage users include next years Olympics within their digital signage, to manipulate viewer behaviour…
  • Include animations that relate to your business: Some would argue that any aspect of fun would remove the professional quality of any corporate signage – this is not the case. Signage that is overly corporate will automatically be blocked out, so let your signage loosen up and see the effects!
